Kamal

Salema Kamal is a passionate and energetic person, who loves to ignite growth. Her creative and outgoing nature feeds into her work as a counsellor, teacher and public speaker. She is the founder of SOLID Minds and is dedicated to promoting healthy mindsets within our communities.

Through her experience in overcoming domestic abuse, childhood trauma, and raising a blended family, she learnt to rise from the depths of depression, rebuild herself, and become the women she wishes to be.

She works as a therapeutic counsellor and parenting coach, providing group and one to one support to local women. She also volunteers with Family line and Noah's Ark in Halifax, providing both remote and face to face counselling.

Salema has been teaching Fine Art to 11-16 year olds at Madni Academy, for the past 18 years. She uses art to help young people navigate issues they face. Her classes provide an opportunity for dialogue on personal worries and fears, as well as practical solutions for breaking mental barriers. Further she provides teacher training sessions on mental health and has worked with several schools across the North.

She runs personal development sessions, helping to set goals, aim high & deal with a variety of emotions such as anger, frustration and low self esteem. She has lead workshops for young people and their families, promoting better health through positive mindsets, gratitude and better relationships.

She has lead projects on a variety of issues, including identity, knowing yourself and lead a “who am I?” spoken word and shadow performance with over fifty participants in the show.

Salema is married and has three children, who have taught her much about mentoring, growth, fears and love. Her son, who has dyslexia, has helped her to see people as individuals, become a champion for children with additional needs and understand that the human spirit and desire to thrive can overcome any obstacle. On this journey Salema has researched into the impact of nutrition, exercise, outdoors and books on the physical and emotional wellbeing of children. Her son continues to amaze her with his hard work and passion for computer sciences. Breaking barriers and becoming his best self is all part of setting him off, on his way towards great things.

Salema has delivered talks and workshops across the UK and online. Helping women to grow in confidence, find their true self and raise motivated, passionate and grateful homes. Empowerment, gratitude and faith are core values that feed into all aspects of her work and life. Her mother and daughter sessions are amongst some of the most popular and she has moved audiences to tears as well as laughter with her talks on gratitude. She continues her work to support people to overcome personal challenges and embrace themselves, changing perspectives and impacting lives.
